Explore space with us! Roll up your sleeves and let curiosity be your guide. At the Adler Planetarium, you’ll find hands-on, minds-on activities and explore mind-blowing facts about the Universe. With two domed theaters, a selection of self-directed and staff-facilitated activities, 60,000 square feet of exhibitions and the Doane Observatory’s research-quality telescope, the Adler casts visitors in the role of scientist, engineer, astronaut, and creative problem solver.
On your self-guided tour you'll visit the historic Atwood Experience identifying the positions of the brightest stars in the night sky and constellations they form. You'll also visit Shoot for the Moon, highlighting the exciting stories of space exploration and America's bold plans to travel to the Moon.
The Community Design Lab (CDL) is a flexible workshop where you can roll up your sleeves, test your ideas, and solve problems creatively. In the CDL, you’ll do more than learn about science—you’ll become the principal investigator in your own scientific research! With unconventional tools like marshmallows, popsicle sticks, duct tape, shaving cream, and bubble wrap, you’ll find imaginative ways to interact with the Universe.
Additionally, see a Sky Show in the Grainger Sky Theater or Definiti Space Theater. With a variety of shows, playing daily, there is something for everyone.
The Adler Planetarium is fun for the whole family and a great way to get a closer look and explore what's beyond our planet.
